This berry peanut butter smoothie is the perfect combination of flavors. Tart from the berries, sweet from the bananas, and nutty from the peanut butter. Yes please!
Smoothies were one of my go-to breakfasts in college when I first became vegan. I usually added in a scoop of protein powder to help keep me full through my classes, and this combined with a spoonful of peanut butter made the smoothie plenty filling!
Ingredients for this berry peanut butter smoothie:
- Banana: This recipe calls for two bananas, one per serving. I prefer to use frozen bananas, but you can use non-frozen ones as well. If you do freeze the bananas, make sure to wait until they’re ripe.
- Frozen berries: For this recipe I used the Trader Joes Fancy Berry Medley, but you can use any berries you like!
- Non dairy milk: I prefer almond milk in smoothies
- Peanut butter: I used an unsalted, creamy peanut butter, but any nut butter will work
Optional add ons:
This berry peanut butter smoothie is delicious as is, but if you have any extra ingredients on hand, the following would go great.
- Flax, chia, or hemp seeds
- Vegan protein powder
- Oats
- Vegan yogurt
- Fresh greens or greens powder
Why I love to make this smoothie:
- It uses simple, cheap ingredients
- It’s perfect as a breakfast or snack
- You only need a couple minutes to make it
- It’s totally customizable to what ingredients you have on hand
